A very long time ago, in the place we now know as Dolbeau-Mistassini Quebec (MRC); the area and its Region used to be occupied and inhabited by "Indians" & their Families before the settlement of any French or Europeans.
This area is a Ritch source of History and Culture just waiting to be discovered, not only for its beauty, but for its abundance of "Historical Information and Attractions."

The foundation of Dolbeau-Mistassini rests upon not only the history of the French and European, but prmarily of the Indians from long ago.
Also, if you like the outdoor stuff - Just on the outskirts of Dolbeau, when you have passed by the tourist info spot on the right side of the road; heading towards Mistassini which is just a short ways across the lovely little bridge, we have a newly constructed attraction which is dedicated in the winter time for scating & family fun with your children and it has a newly constructed building which is situated there to provide information on all of our surrounding little towns and villages in the (MRC).
It looks like a small little Church.
This public scating area is "Free" it has lots of parking and indoor / out door scate changing areas and the indoor changing areas is heated, & toilet areas.
It also has picnic tables to sit at and outdoor benches to rest upon when the little ones get tired from scating.
The atmosphere is calm, relaxing and fun for all, we even have outdoor music which palys while everyone is outside scating and enjoying outdoor physical fun and activities.
The picture of the family you see in the background is just one of many young families who choose to participate with their children and family in winter out door fun, which is very important to instill in young children for growth and development, which is good examples to be setting.
God Bless them!

Another Picture of the Mistassibi River.
Mistassibi River in Dolbeau-Mistassini, Quebec.
An area just a little outside of Mistassini, which is used by Aboriginals & other hunters for hunting Moose, past Ste Elisabeth De Proulx.
In this area it is rich in timber, natural wildlife, running streams & gentle flowing creeks which is the natural home for most of our Truot & Pike.
Surrounding our streams, rivers, & creeks we have wild blueberries, beautiful birds, lush trees, with the fresh smell of pine all day long.
In the mid evening there is always a magnificent sunset & in the early morning the sunrise is simply - to die for!.
In this area there are Moose, Black Bears & many different kinds of natural wildlife to include Wild Wolves.
This place is a Fishing & Hunting Paradise!
Besides the beautiful places we have here to visit, there are also many other interesting places where you may take your family.
Located just a short little drive outside Dolbeau, beside a Catholic Monistary we have a Chocolate factory that produces beautiful fine chocolate, some chocolate is sold locally & some is exported.
In this factory they are known for producing fresh covered bleberry covered chocolates. Which is then also exported to the grocerie stores, the markets in other heavily populated areas.
In this factory if previously arranged tours may be given to classes or to other visitors.
(Chocolaterie Des Pères Trappistes) is the name of the Chocolate Factory.
In Dolbeau-Mistassini, we have wonderfull Catholic Churches, and one in particular is located in Mistassiini across - from the mall and beside the new movie theatre.
Inside this Church it has the most butifully elaborate paintings of different types of religous senery, angels, hevon, Jesus Christ on the Cross, and the Catholic Church is most often used for weddings, funerals, and Sunday mass for the community of Dolbeau-Mistassini, but it is not the only Catholic Church located in the two city`s.
Another beautiful church is in a little town named Saint Elisabeth De-Proulx, it is very tiny, but cute and adorable Church, Ste Elisabeth De-Proulx, it is home for allot of its immediate area residents, and at times people from a distance come there to Ste Elisabeth, just to take part in the activitys which are held in the area.
At the church they have allot of activities which they schedule for their members, they have a flyer which they send out on a weekly basis, telling what is going on at the church & in the immediate area, they also have in the bottom of the church have a tuck shop which sell`s seccond hand items to all those who need to buy clothing & items for their households very rerasonably priced.
Firstly we would like to Congratulate our Mayor Mr. Georges Simard for his success as our elected Mayor for the beautiful place we call "Our Home" Dolbeau-Mistassini.
If it were not for our Mayors blessings Mr. Simard, in assisting & allowing us the oppertunity to have a close up view & to display our City council Assembly, we would never have been able to display the importance that our Council represents in the lives of the members of our community, the lives of the public & inportantly the lives of the Aboriginal people.
Nor would we have been able to display the beauty our City has to offer yet alone exhibit the warmth & hospitality every Citizen displays towards each other every day without exceptions.
Thats the charm and warmth everyone recieves when they come to Dolbeau-Mistassini, and those are the memories people take with them when they leave, & truthfully, some people end up staying & becomming residents.
Thank you our Honourable Mayor Mr. Simard
In this room it may look like an ordinary assembly room where men & weomen go to discuss issues related to politics, or economy or community issues, but the inportance of this room is of much more value then just a place to talk.
In this room, it is where Leaders sit & representitives make decisions, decisions which affect the lives of the families & the security & safety of the residents in Dolbeau -Mistassini and surrounding areas to which is a place most of us call home.
For some, some may find it to be just a big room where people sit and talk about current or past events, but for the Aboriginals, the public and for the local people who were born and raised here and who grew up here most or all of their lives, this room - in this building - it also represents genorations of strong & proud people who have gone threw allot & who also have worked hard to evolve.
Our Rich heritage to which its consistancys are made up of, are French - European & Importantly Aboriginal People.
On account of our Heritages & the incorporations of our cultures & Heritages that is why we are what we are today.
And that is - a Society full of Strong, hard working & productive people with the same common goal in mind, & that is for the betterment of all our people in order to make our communitys strong.
Some may view a room like this to be scarey or cold, and may even be intimidated by its appearance as if it were a court room.
In actuality what makes up its Spirit and warmth besides the beauty and shine is the people and administration of those who are in the building, every day of the week.
The first time I entered the building 2 years ago I was greeted by the Mayor as a visitor just standing in his Lobby.
Mr Simard greeted me with a soft & welcoming smile, I could not speak a word of french, but that did not matter to him.
What mattered was he wanted to make me feel welcome & he went out of his way to take his personal time to do so!
That is the symbol of a well deserved elected Leader, as he left a beautiful memory within my mind which remains ever since that day.
Regardless of who a person may be or what they may do for a living our leaders are never to busy to walk strait up to you, shake your hand ask how is everithing and to lovingly greet everione who enters the building and the region regardless of purpose.
In our Province, in our area what matters to our community and administration the most is what makes us who we are which is a warm community, how we treat each other and how everyone is treated while they are here. Rich or poor, young or old, minorities or not we are all treated like family.
